Valentine's Day - what does it mean to us?

The origins of Valentine's day are actually quite different to what we celebrate today you can read a little more about that here:

http://www.wnd.com/2017/02/the-real-history-of-valentines-day/

However we at The Mustard Seed Christian Academy would like to take this day as an opportunity to teach our learners about the true meaning of love taught to us by the Bible. One really great example of this teaching is 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, this teaches us how to interact with our friends, family and loved ones. Teaching our children how to love and how to show love is our responsibility. Love is a verb, an action, a doing word. To teach them that love is enduring, understanding, caring and humble, not just flowers, chocolates and a warm fuzzy feeling will help to equip them for future relationships.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8English Standard Version (ESV)

4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[a] 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
